This Privacy Policy explains how StabilityTest ("StabilityTest," "we," "our," or "us") handles information in connection with the website at https://stabilitytest.io/ and the internet connection testing tools and related services offered there (together, the "Service").

StabilityTest is built to provide network diagnostic information while collecting as little personal information as practical. Most of the Service, including the primary connection test, can be used without creating an account or providing personal information.

This document is an informational privacy notice. Its purpose is to describe what information the Service processes, why it is processed, and the choices available to you. It is not a contract, and it does not ask you to agree to anything. The terms that govern your use of the Service are set out in the Terms of Use.

Scope of This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to information processed through the StabilityTest website and its testing tools.

It does not govern the independent practices of the third-party services that StabilityTest relies on or links to. Each of those services operates under its own privacy policy. This includes the infrastructure and service providers described throughout this document, as well as any external websites you reach through links, advertisements, or affiliate or referral placements. Where those relationships matter, they are identified in the relevant sections below.

About StabilityTest

StabilityTest is an internet connection analysis platform. Its primary public tool evaluates characteristics of a network connection such as latency, jitter, failed requests or probes, connection drops, and overall connection consistency. It summarizes these as a Stability Score and Stability Grade alongside related performance measurements.

The tool runs from your browser and does not require an account. For the nature and limitations of the diagnostic information the Service provides, see the Disclaimer.

Information We Collect and Process

Most StabilityTest features can be used without providing personal information. The categories below describe the information the Service may process. How several of these categories are generated and handled is explained in more detail in the sections that follow.

Information You Provide

You may choose to contact StabilityTest for support, feedback, or other inquiries. When you do, we receive the information you include in that communication, such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message. Providing this information is optional, and it is used to respond to and manage your inquiry. See Contact Us for how to reach us.

Technical and Usage Information

When you visit the Service, standard web technologies, hosting infrastructure, security systems, and server logs may automatically process technical information associated with your visit. This may include your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed, date and time of access, session duration, and a general geographic region derived from network information. This information supports the operation, maintenance, security, and improvement of the Service.

Network Testing Information

When you run a connection test, the Service processes the technical measurements needed to calculate and display your results, such as latency and response-time samples, jitter, failed or unreturned probes, connection-drop detection, test duration, and the resulting Stability Score and Stability Grade. How this information is generated, and how it is kept separate from information that could identify you, is described under How Network Testing Works and Usage Statistics and Operational Records below.

Connection Information

If you use the connection-information feature, the Service processes your public IP address to look up related details such as your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and approximate network location. This lookup is performed through a third-party provider and is handled separately from the testing measurements described above, as explained under Connection Information and IPinfo below.

How Network Testing Works

A StabilityTest connection test runs from your browser. During a test, the Service issues a series of measurement requests and records timing and reliability data (such as latency samples, jitter, failed probes, and connection drops), which are combined into your Stability Score and Stability Grade.

The measurement statistics that StabilityTest retains are designed not to store information that identifies you. They are not associated with your IP address, ISP, network location, name, email address, or WordPress user identity. The identifying details shown in the connection-information feature are obtained through a separate process and are not attached to your stored test results.

When you run a test, StabilityTest also stores a first-party identifier in your browser's local storage, named stabilitytest_visitor_id, to support the operation of the testing and statistics features. This identifier is generated by StabilityTest and does not itself contain your IP address, ISP, network location, name, or email address.

Two parts of the testing process involve external infrastructure and are described in their own sections: latency measurement requests, which currently pass through Cloudflare, and connection-information lookups, which use IPinfo.

Cloudflare Measurement Infrastructure

StabilityTest currently performs latency measurement requests through a Cloudflare Worker rather than the standalone WordPress-hosted endpoint used previously. When your browser makes these requests, they pass through Cloudflare's infrastructure.

As with other internet traffic handled through its network, Cloudflare may process technical request information (such as IP address, request metadata, timestamps, and related network and operational data) as necessary to provide, secure, monitor, and operate its services. StabilityTest does not intentionally transmit your Stability Score, ISP information, network location, email address, name, or account information to the Worker as part of a latency measurement request.

Information processed by Cloudflare in the course of providing its services is subject to Cloudflare's own privacy practices, described at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

Connection Information and IPinfo

To display connection information such as your ISP, approximate network location, and public IP address, StabilityTest uses the IP information service provided by IPinfo (ipinfo.io). Performing this lookup requires transmitting your public IP address to IPinfo so that the corresponding ISP and approximate location information can be returned to the Service.

To reduce repeated third-party requests and improve performance, the connection-information endpoint may temporarily cache successful lookup results. This cache may contain IP-derived connection information such as IP address, ISP, and approximate network location. It is subject to a short expiration period and automated cleanup, and it is kept separate from the usage statistics described below. Connection-lookup information is not added to StabilityTest's aggregate or recent-test statistics.

Information processed by IPinfo is subject to its own privacy practices, described at https://ipinfo.io/privacy-policy.

Usage Statistics and Operational Records

StabilityTest keeps limited statistics about how the testing tool is used, so that its operation can be understood and improved. These records are structured to avoid identifying individual users, and they distinguish between aggregate counters and a short-lived recent-test history.

Aggregate Usage Statistics

Daily usage is stored primarily as aggregate counters, such as the number of tests started and completed, test durations, resulting Stability Scores and Grades, whether a test experienced failed probes or connection drops, and aggregated stability classifications. These counters describe overall activity rather than individual sessions.

Recent-Test History

A limited recent-test history may be retained for a short period to support administrative features such as recent activity, the number of tests completed in the previous 24 hours, and the time of the most recent completed test. Each recent record contains only completion time, test duration, Stability Score, and Stability Grade, and is automatically pruned after a limited retention period.

These usage-statistics records do not include IP addresses, ISP information, geographic location, email addresses, names, user account identifiers, or individual latency samples.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

StabilityTest uses cookies, browser local storage, and similar technologies to support functions such as remembering preferences, maintaining and securing the site, and measuring how the Service is used. Where those services are enabled, these technologies may also support analytics, advertising, and affiliate or referral attribution.

Some third-party services integrated with or linked from the Service may set their own cookies or use similar technologies under their own privacy policies. StabilityTest does not control those third-party technologies.

Most browsers let you manage or block cookies through their settings, and some third-party providers offer their own opt-out or personalization controls. Disabling certain cookies may affect how parts of the Service or some third-party features function.

The categories of cookies and similar technologies StabilityTest uses, their purposes, and the controls available to you are described in more detail in the Cookie Policy.

Analytics

StabilityTest currently uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors interact with the site. Analytics information may include page views, session duration, navigation behavior, device information, general geographic region, and traffic sources. This information is used in aggregate to improve the content, functionality, and user experience of the Service, and is processed by Google under its own policies. The cookies set by Google Analytics are described further in the Cookie Policy.

Advertising, Adsterra, and Google AdSense

StabilityTest currently displays third-party advertising provided by Adsterra. Adsterra and its advertising partners may process browser, device, network, and advertising interaction information and may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, measure, secure, and optimize advertising under their own policies.

StabilityTest may also use Google, through the Google AdSense program, as an advertising provider in the future.

Third-party advertising providers may use cookies, device and browser information, and similar technologies to serve and measure advertising. Depending on the provider, your settings, and applicable law, advertising may be personalized (based on information such as prior activity) or non-personalized (based on factors such as general context and coarse location). Where consent is required for particular advertising technologies, applicable consent mechanisms apply.

When Google advertising services are used, Google's collection and use of information through those services is governed by Google's own policies. You can review how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can manage Google ad personalization through My Ad Center.

The specific advertising technologies in use at any given time, and the choices available to you, are described in more detail in the Cookie Policy.

Affiliate and Referral Links

StabilityTest may include affiliate or referral links to third-party products or services, such as Proton VPN and AdGuard. These links may carry a tracking or referral identifier that attributes a visit, sign-up, or qualifying purchase to StabilityTest. If you complete a qualifying action after following such a link, StabilityTest may receive compensation or another benefit at no additional cost to you.

When you follow an affiliate or referral link, you leave StabilityTest and continue on the third-party provider's website, which may use cookies or other technologies to recognize the referral, measure attribution, prevent fraud, and operate its service under its own privacy policy. StabilityTest does not control those practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party service you visit this way.

How We Use Information

StabilityTest uses the information it processes to:

• operate, maintain, and secure the Service;
• run connection tests and generate Stability Scores, Stability Grades, and related results;
• provide connection information when you use that feature;
• understand usage and analyze performance and reliability trends;
• monitor the health and integrity of StabilityTest infrastructure;
• respond to support requests and other communications;
• detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, and security threats;
• support the development of new features; and
• comply with applicable legal obligations.

How Information May Be Shared

StabilityTest does not sell personal information.

Information may be shared or processed in the following limited circumstances:

• Service and infrastructure providers. StabilityTest relies on third parties to host, deliver, secure, and operate the Service and its features. These include the providers described above, such as Cloudflare and IPinfo, along with hosting, content-delivery, analytics, advertising, and security providers. Some of these providers process information on StabilityTest's behalf in order to provide their services; others — including advertising, affiliate, and certain infrastructure providers — may also process information independently under their own privacy policies.
• Legal and security circumstances. Information may be disclosed where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or valid legal process, to enforce the Terms of Use, or to protect the rights, safety, security, or property of StabilityTest, its users, or others.
• Third-party sites and services you choose to visit. When you follow a link, advertisement, or affiliate placement to an external site, any information you provide there is handled under that site's own privacy policy rather than this one.

Anonymous, Aggregated, and De-Identified Information

StabilityTest may create and use anonymous, aggregated, or de-identified information for purposes such as improving testing accuracy, analyzing network-performance and reliability trends, developing reporting features, and understanding overall use of the Service. This information is intended to describe groups, trends, and service activity rather than to identify individuals, and StabilityTest does not use it to build identifiable profiles of users' browsing activity.

Data Retention

Information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was processed. Retention varies by the type of information:

• Recent-test records used for administrative reporting are kept for a limited period and pruned automatically.
• Aggregate usage statistics may be kept longer to support operational and trend analysis.
• Connection-information lookups may be cached only briefly, subject to a short expiration and automated cleanup.
• Server, infrastructure, security, and diagnostic logs are retained according to operational and security needs.

Information may also be retained where reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or protect the security of the Service.

Data Security

StabilityTest maintains reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. The Service is also designed to minimize unnecessary data collection and to keep operational measurement statistics separate from connection-identifying information where practical.

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and StabilityTest cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Data Processing

StabilityTest can be accessed from many parts of the world, and the infrastructure and third-party services it relies on may process information in more than one country. Where information is processed in a country different from your own, the applicable data-protection laws may differ from those where you live.

Your Privacy Choices and Rights

The rights available to you depend on where you live and the laws that apply to you. Depending on your jurisdiction, these may include the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; and, where processing is based on consent, to withdraw that consent. You may also have choices regarding cookies and advertising technologies, which are described in the Cookie Policy and available through your browser and provider settings.

Because much of the Service operates without collecting information that identifies you, StabilityTest may be unable to associate testing statistics or aggregated records with a particular individual. Some requests may therefore be limited to the information actually linked to you. Information processed independently by third-party providers is subject to those providers' own policies and request procedures.

To make a request or ask about your choices, contact StabilityTest using the details under Contact Us below. We may need to verify a request before acting on it, and we may decline where an exception or limitation applies under relevant law.

Children's Privacy

StabilityTest is a general-audience network diagnostic tool and is not directed to children under 13. StabilityTest does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected in a manner inconsistent with this policy, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us.

Third-Party Services and Websites

The Service depends on third-party providers and links to external websites and services that StabilityTest does not operate. The key providers involved in current functionality, Cloudflare for measurement infrastructure and IPinfo for connection-information lookups, are described in their own sections above, and additional analytics, advertising, and infrastructure providers may be used as described elsewhere in this policy. Each third-party provider and website operates under its own terms and privacy policy.

StabilityTest is not responsible for the content or the privacy and security practices of third-party websites, including those reached through links, advertisements, or affiliate or referral placements. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party service before providing information to it.

Future Product and Network Intelligence Features

As StabilityTest develops, it may use anonymous and aggregated network-performance information to build features such as reliability rankings, regional stability reports, ISP comparison tools, network-reliability insights, and public performance dashboards. These features are intended to rely on aggregated or de-identified information and to avoid identifying individual users.

This forward-looking description does not authorize new categories of personal-information collection. If a future feature would materially change the information StabilityTest collects or how it is processed, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect that change before or when the feature takes effect.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

StabilityTest may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in its services, technology, or legal and regulatory requirements. When it does, the revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
